The Longfu Temple area boasts a history of nearly six hundred years. Once a royal temple district, it was located in the prosperous core of the imperial capital and was the foremost of the five major temple fairs in Beijing. Known as a golden land in Beijing, the area is rich in cultural and historical heritage, with a vibrant history of cultural, artistic, and commercial exchanges.
The district seeks to reshape the Longfu Temple into a capital cultural centre where Chinese culture and world civilisation shine together, through the "harmony" of East and West, local and international, as well as the integration of space, culture, history, and industry. By merging the Longfu Temple area with the Forbidden City's royal court culture and Wangfujing's First Street culture, along with nearby cultural facilities like art galleries and auction headquarters, it aims to become the capital's "Cultural and Artistic Golden Triangle."
It will gradually develop into an innovative, diverse, open, low-density, and refined destination for culture, commerce, and tourism, featuring originality, quality, and sustainability. The area is being upgraded to meet the capital's people's aspirations for a better life and diverse cultural needs, shaping a model for old city preservation and setting a benchmark for urban revival.
